Be an AUTHOR of your life and an ARCHITECT of your journey
Robin Dunbar, The Oxford evolutionary psychologist and neuroscientist, discovered that 65% of our conversations is a storytelling. We poorly memorise facts but can remember stories for a lifetime
These narratives are our life scenarios that directly influence our belief system which becomes our navigational map shaping our life experience
However, the key questions here:
“People are best at interpreting information in such a way their past conclusions remain intact”
Warren Buffet
Sometimes our ability to create new stories falls prey to old ways and opinions
In the era of exponential change, linear thinking models won’t work anymore
The only thing that can counter it is a human creativity - the ability to create new meanings, connections and therefore, opportunities
All stories that ever-captivated humankind are stories of transformation. Those, where the hero/ heroine not merely overcome external challenges and ordeals but went through internal change, discovered new power within themselves, met and understood their authentic self that took them to a new level.
It’s been true for centuries and it’s true now.
And yes, there were other boons they achieved, like golden fleece, glory and power but the value of internal growth and gift of authentic power trumps all external gifts. These are the gifts of meaning, purpose, joy of meeting authentic self, closing the gap to best self and leaving a lasting legacy.
Social media giants like Metaverse and LinkedIn report that stories in which people talk about their personal inner transformation and growth gauge highest reactions.
Through them we seek to truly see and understand ourselves, gain new perspective on situations we are in, access dormant inner resources to uncover new possibilities, learn new tools and methods to transcend ourselves to a new level. They form a kind of training ground by fully engaging our mind and emotions.
But one thing is to keep scrolling through “feel good” posts in social media, getting inspired by other people growing their inner self, and completely different is closing your own gap to the best and highest self.
Scientists who study happiness reveal we have “habitual” level of happiness.
Aultimately every one of us is choosing:
– whether it’s worth an effort to write own transformational story
– whether it’s worth an effort to embark on a journey of personal growth to consciously and purposefully close the gap to our best story
